Newsletter July 2010

Well folks we have survived all of the AGM’s over the past few months, I notice a few changes here and there and I would like to thank the outgoing committee members of all the clubs who have supported the Region throughout the past twelve months, I would also like to congratulate the incoming committees and would hope that they are seeing the benefits of being a valuable part of the region and we look forward to their continuing support, I’m not sure that all the members appreciate the effort, commitment and personal cost that their delegates very kindly contribute to the operation of the Region each month. The appreciation also goes to my committee for their dedication.
The current club members of the Region are; Fountain City, Hauraki, Paeroa, TeAroha Te Awamutu, Whitianga, Whangamata and Dian and I spent a wonderful afternoon at Pirongia Club on Sunday 11th and I was informed by the President Graeme, that their registration was in the Post, that was really a pleasant suprise ,that was not the only surprise of the day, I was sitting with Ray Thurgood of “ ValRay Promotions “ and he stated that they were also going to join the region, well what wonderful news really was a great day. Was great to hear that Paki Tuna, the newly elected President of TeAwamutu has the Club all legal now, and will announce their first Open Day shortly.

Kiwi ProAm have had some great evenings at the Vue Bar, Sky City, the most recent, packed the venue for an evening with our very own Karen Hanson and friends, while Karen had a few technical problems she came through as only a true entertainer can, a great evening Karen Thank you.

We are currently organizing fund raising events for The Waikato Cream Of Country Show next year, Carol Stokes is undertaking another great event on September 11 at the Hamilton RSA @ 1-00pm, under some duress I might add, as her partner David is recovering from major surgery a couple of weeks ago. We wish David a speedy recovery.
Our PRO Myrie Townsend has also had a couple of hospital visits I understand that she is undergoing continual treatment but is defiantly recovering, take care Myrie a good PRO is hard to find

Dian has kindly offered to make a number of Xmas cakes (same as last year) if each member Club would take one to raffle a little closer to Xmas, should raise a nice sum, could those who are up for this please let Dian or myself know so she can get organized and get them made ?

Your Executive has inspected the Morrinsville College and it certainly meets most of the requirements although we are still waiting to find out if we can have chairs on the floor of the gymnasium.

We have done a feasibility study on the possibility of running a fund raiser event at Sky City Function Centre, by the considerable positive comments and support at the recent delegates meeting, it would seem that it is all systems GO, I have to say that it was originally intended to just be a club get together,” Region Super Saturday “or something similar, however someone stated that this year was the Regions 21ST Birthday, so that will really be something to celebrate, The Waikato Regions 21st Birthday. The discussion for the event was quite positive and voted to go ahead, so I have booked the new function room at Sky City for Saturday 6th November 2010. It is proposed to start @ 11.00 am thru 5.00 pm, performers will be judged, by registered judges through the day and those selected will be invited to perform in the evening concert along with some invited guest artists 7-00 pm thru 10-00 or 11-00pm, The function room will seat 350 at tables, so we need to fill it ??. Suggested price of $15.00 for the day & night or $10.00 for the evening only, Sky City will have food available at very reasonable prices and a bar will be operating.
I would like to thank Sky City for their very generous support and offers of help with planning this event; they really support Country Music, so please support them. if anyone has any suggestions or comments, please speak to your delegate or one of the Region committee or myself.

Just one more important comment from me. Some member clubs do not have enough entertainers of their own i.e.; most of us are members of more than one club, it follows that certain clubs may be a little short on performers, which is fine however if we find we don’t have enough to reasonably fill the day/evening, then we will have to look at inviting an NZCMA registered club, or two, from outside the region. Please think about this ??

There appear to be some people who are unaware of the fact that Morrinsville Country Music Club Inc is not a financial member of The Waikato Country Music Assn Inc and that we are not in any way, associated with The Morrinsville Country Music Club Inc presentation of their “ Spectacular “ event, we do however wish them all the very best, it should as always, be a great show.

A very BIG Thank You And God Bless you ALL (and Country Music) !!!!!!!!!!!!!
